Raeisi: Efforts to neutralize US sanctions not tied to Vienna talks

Iran’s president Ebrahim Raeisi says his administration is putting efforts to remove anti-Iran sanctions high on the agenda. In a tweet, president Raeisi says the efforts to neutralize the sanctions are not tied to the ongoing talks in Vienna to revive the 2015 joint comprehensive plan of action, known as the JCPOA. He says, despite the existing sanctions, Iran is selling oil. Raeisi says, the sales have now increased to the level that no worries are left and the generated revenues are being returned to the country. Back in May 2018, Iran was hit by rounds of sanctions that came into effect following the US withdrawal from the JCPOA. Part of the measures hit the Iranian oil sector. Iran says the sanctions are illegal and it has the right to sell oil in international markets.
