Israel's top trade union chief has announced a general strike in response to the cabinet’s judicial reforms, as street protests against the controversial plan continue.
Israeli media say most departures at Ben Gurion airport near Tel Aviv are halted. Two main ports have also announced they have stopped work in adherence to the labor strike. The Israel Medical Association quickly followed suit, also announcing a full strike in the health system that will impact all public hospitals. This after the Israeli president urged the cabinet to halt its plan to protect what he called the unity of people. Last night, there were massive street protests involving scuffles between police and demonstrators.
