The Russian Ministry of Defense says its forces have killed a large number of Polish and German mercenaries stationed in western Ukraine.
The identities and exact numbers of those killed were not disclosed. The ministry further noted nearly 5-thousand foreign mercenaries fighting against Russian forces have been eliminated since the start of the war in Ukraine. And the same number has fled the combat zone. Back in March, it was reported that around 20-thousand internationals, mostly coming from European countries, traveled to fight Russia in Ukraine. This comes alongside the 16-thousand foreign mercenaries, including Israelis, whom Zelensky announced would be fighting in Ukraine. This is while, some of Ukraine’s European allies, including Britain, did not approve of sending so called volunteers to war.
