Iran says it is “very close” to devising a new framework for bilateral cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), months after Israeli and American airstrikes on the country’s nuclear facilities prompted it to suspend all engagement.
Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi made the remarks in an address to a national conference on investment opportunities in Iran’s Free Zones in Tehran on Saturday.
He pointed out that the US attacks on Iran’s nuclear sites in June disrupted Tehran’s cooperation with the IAEA. “We need a new framework for cooperation with the Agency. Fortunately, our negotiations with the Agency have begun,” he added.
