Israeli forces have abducted hundreds of Palestinian medical personnel and health workers in Gaza since the regime’s genocide began in October 2023.
According to the Palestine Center for Prisoners' Studies, Israeli forces have abducted more than 360 members of Gaza’s medical and healthcare workforce, including doctors, paramedics and administrators. Among the abductees is Dr. Hossam Abu Safia, director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza. The Center added that four abductees have already lost their lives in Israeli prisons due to torture and medical neglect. It emphasized that some paramedics were kidnapped while rescuing and transporting the wounded in ambulances. The center stressed that targeting healthcare workers during armed conflict is a grave breach of international humanitarian law. It urged international organizations to intervene immediately to protect medical staff in Gaza and secure the release of the abductees.
